Although the first restaurant was opened in 2012, the real story beings over 30 years ago. Chhaya’s family, originally from Battambong, Cambodia, was forced to flee their home during the communist regime of Pol Pot and relocated to Rochester after spending time in a refugee camp in Thailand. They were forced to leave everything behind, but were able to start over and build a life here.
Their story is truly amazing, and although they have been witness to unspeakable horrors, they continue to see the good in the world. Our restaurants serve as a tribute to our family, and we feel privileged to be able to share it with our customers!
